The narrow beam on the Freedom 17 makes it a superb canoe for the experienced tripper. Its asymmetrical hull, with the widest point 6" aft od the center,, increase the speed and makes paddling easier. A nice detail found on all Freedoms is the spray rail molded in the hull about 6 inches below the sheer near the bow. This deflects moderate waves and dampens the pitching motion in larger waves.
