John Haugen-Wente

Born a very long time ago. Okay student- pretty good athlete- Lousy boy scout- strong hiker- quite social as a college student-born again in my 20's when I headed West- followed by the Yellowstone years-the Colorado years- the backcountry years-Found love-traded the single life for the coupled life-traded the mountains for the water-bought a home-helped create a small fry child who I adore- still like to spend my time outside: biking, hiking, paddling, skating, sailing, camping. Every day is a new adventure-life continues to be a wonderful ride.

Favorite Places: Anywhere along the Canadian shield in all seasons. Whether I am traveling by snowshoes, canoe, kayak, or sail, the US/ Canadian Border is my spiritual center in the wilderness.

Favorite Quote: "Give me a tent and kittle, snowshoes, axe, and gun. Head up into Grand River, steering by star and sun"
